When Trust Meets Generosity: How TraderBea’s Whatnot Community Changed Everything for Shining Stars

April 7, 2026

Sometimes the most powerful partnerships begin with a leap of faith.

When TraderBea, a coin trading presence on Whatnot, first approached Shining Stars Foundation with the idea of hosting a charity coin auction, we didn’t quite know what to think. Online auctions? Live streaming sales? “Running it back”? It was all completely new territory for our team.

But behind the proposal was Bjorn Bergstrom—a passionate collector, entrepreneur, and the driving force behind TraderBea. Bjorn believed wholeheartedly that his community could raise six figures for Shining Stars. His confidence was bold, and frankly, a little hard for us to imagine at the time.

Still, we said yes.

We chose trust over understanding, believing in the heart behind the idea, even if we didn’t yet understand the mechanics.

A few weeks later, everything changed.

Bjorn attended our Aspen Winter Games program and experienced firsthand the magic of Shining Stars—the resilience of children battling cancer, the joy in moments of connection, and the strength of families navigating the unimaginable. What he saw lit a fire. This wasn’t just a fundraiser anymore. It became personal.

Determined to make a real impact, Bjorn rallied his team: his wife, Jeanene, and his business partner Scott—known in the community as Slizzo. Together, they set out to do something extraordinary.

They hosted a 12-hour live marathon fundraiser on Whatnot.

What unfolded was nothing short of incredible.

More than 1,500 members of the TraderBea community showed up—collectors, supporters, and strangers who quickly became something more. They donated coins, rare memorabilia, and meaningful items to be auctioned. Others jumped in to bid, driving prices higher and higher.

And then something remarkable started happening.

Buyers would win an item—sometimes for hundreds of dollars—and instead of keeping it, they would simply say, “Run it back.” The item would go right back into the auction to be sold again, multiplying its impact over and over. It became a cycle of generosity, a shared mission unfolding in real time.

Meanwhile, the live chat was pouring over with messages of encouragement and support. People shared their own stories—battles with cancer, loved ones lost, victories hard-won. The screen became more than a marketplace; it became a community bound by empathy, purpose, and hope.

Hour after hour, the momentum grew.

By the end of the night, what started as an ambitious goal had turned into something far greater. The total raised didn’t just meet expectations—it shattered them.

This event became the single highest-raising fundraiser Shining Stars Foundation has ever been the recipient of.

But beyond the numbers, what mattered most was what it represented: a group of people, many of whom had never heard of Shining Stars before, coming together to make a tangible difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families.

TraderBea showed us what’s possible when passion meets purpose, when community meets cause, and when people choose generosity again and again—even when no one is asking them to.

We went into this partnership not knowing what to expect. We came out of it forever changed.

The funds raised during this event will allow us to expand our family services, bring up countless children and families from our waitlist, and sustain our growth for the future of the foundation. We are so grateful to Bjorn and the entire Trader Bea team for this incredible gift.
