Young Adult Mentorship PRogram

The Young Adult Mentorship Program is our newest program! This program was launched in the fall of 2017 with the goal of helping young adult pediatric cancer survivors access the resources they need to thrive. These young adults are 18-35 years old and have participated in other Shining Stars Foundation programs and events. The objective of this program is to match these young adults with mentors who are dedicated to helping them become successful and independent individuals.

What is the Need?

There is currently a lack of age-appropriate services that help young adult pediatric cancer survivors tackle the unique challenges they face. As a result of their illness and treatments, these patients are entering adulthood with a wide range of burdens, including: Lack of education or access to higher education, severe financial difficulties, isolation from their peers, chronic health conditions, cognitive and learning challenges, and adjustment difficulties.

By carefully matching these young adults with mentors in the local community, this program aims to provide survivors with the tools and support they need to achieve their goals.
