Kids Helping Kids Program

Students from the Denver Area and Grand County have been busy volunteering for the Shining Stars Foundation!

  • Samantha Kritzik and a friend made and sold chocolate covered cherries at Sam’s home in Greenwood Village to raise money for the Shining Stars!
  • Varenna Day and Brownie Troop #65685 in Denver raised money from the Girl Scout cookie sales and donated to the Shining Stars Foundation.  Volunteers Nan Belme and Cindy Bickel attended a meeting to accept the check from the busy Brownies.
  • Students from East Grand Middle School and Middle Park High School have been busy hanging up Winter Park Half Marathon/5K posters at local businesses in Kremmling, Grand Lake, Granby, Fraser, and Winter Park for the Shining Stars Foundation’s race on August 4th.

May & June Rockies Games

We have had a record attendance rate at the Rockies games in April, May, and June with the exception of June 19 which many had to cancel due to the wild weather!  Despite the fact that the Rockies have been on a home field losing streak for a while, games have been enjoyed by all.

Zoo Day

On Sunday, June 3, Shining Stars and their families attended Zoo Day with volunteers, Nan Belme, Cindy Bickel, Robert Grawemeyer, and Christine Grawemeyer. Beautiful weather, fascinating animals, rides on the carousel, and a picnic made the day a beautiful experience for everyone. Young Adult Mentorship Program

The Shining Stars Foundation officially kicked off the Young Adult Mentorship Program on June 12! This program pairs young adult pediatric cancer survivors with mentors who will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Young adult pediatric cancer survivors face a number of unique challenges as a result of their illness and treatment, and our goal is to provide them with the tools and support they need to overcome these challenges. Interested in learning more about the program? Contact Ryndi at Ryndi@ShiningStarsFoundation.org for more information.

Monster Truck Races at Colorado National Speedway

Sixty Shining Stars and family members attended the Father’s Day Super Sunday monster truck races and pit party at Colorado National Speedway on Sunday, June 17.  The attendees took a ride in a Monster Truck; witnessed extreme trucks demolish cars, trucks, RVs buses, and more; and met their favorite drivers to get autographs and pictures!
