Volunteer

Shining Stars COULD NOT operate without the dedicated volunteers that return year after year to serve us. Over 8,000 volunteer hours were logged in 2009 by staff and a core of 350 dedicted volunteers.
Support is needed in the following areas:

• Meet and greet the children (and often their families) who attend events.
• Organizing day excursions in the Denver area.
• Providing transportation and often hosting a child overnight who flies in to attend an event.
• Mentoring special need participants by staying in touch with selected families.
• Assisting committees in organizing fun and entertaining fundraising events.
• Helping coordinate the week long ski camp in Aspen.
• Working with sponsors who wish to support the foundation.
• Assisting with mailings, phone chain contact systems, and helping develop meaningful Internship programs for graduating Shining Stars as they leave high school or college.
• Soliciting donors for auctions items for us to use at fundraisers.
