Megan hails from Illinois and just completed 18 months with AmeriCorps. She has a degree in Political Science from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. Megan has dreamed of living in Grand County and can't wait to meet the Shining Stars and their families!

Kathy has worked in various children's programs and summer camps for over 30 years. Initially teaching outdooor recreation skills and horsemanship to young campers, her interest turned to children with cancer in 1978 after volunteering in Hal O'Leary's Adaptive Ski program in Winter Park. Kathy has been a self-employed business owner for the last 30 years, specializing in Real Estate. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and mother of two children. She was active for over 12 years as a 4-H Leader and Judge for various events, started the first cub scouts group in the Fraser Valley, and has served on several Chamber of Commerce committees. Kathy was a past treasurer of the Grand County Board of Realtors. She enjoys working with youth and once received the "Celebration of Human Spirit" Award.

Cookie loves working with children of all ages and meeting people both on the phone and in person for the Shining Stars Foundation. She writes grants and helps out with other aspects of the organization such as events, planning, and office duties. Cookie is a retired teacher from the East Grand School District. She taught grades Kindergarten through third for 35 years and spent her last year teaching English Language Learners in grades K-7. Over the years she has worn many hats such as English Language Learners coordinator, special events coordinator, curriculum developer, teacher ambassador to Russia and Japan, guest instructor for the University of Colorado at Denver, and most importantly, mother. She received a B.A. degree in English/Secondary Education from Colorado State University. She also has her Elementary Education, Secondary English Education and TESL certificates. She is a multiple year honoree for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
